Just Because A Car is Junked Doesn’t Mean the Parts on it Are Junk
Waukesha Auto Salvage Yard on Auto Recycling and Used Parts
Let’s take a look at what happens when a car is junked. Typically, a car that has become more trouble than it’s worth or is totaled beyond repair is either traded in at a car dealer or taken to an auto scrapping business. Either way, their next stop is usually to an auto wrecking yard, like B&M Auto.
Once at the wrecking yard, any usable parts on the vehicle are removed. Rims, tires, body panels, seats—whatever is in good shape, we’ll salvage it. While we’re at it, we also remove any gasoline, coolant and other environmentally harmful fluids and parts so they can be safely recycled or disposed of.
What’s left is a metal carcass of a car, and possibly some damaged tires and interior parts that can’t be used. At B&M Auto, anything that cannot be reused is loaded onto a truck and taken to the recycling yard, where it’s fed into a shredder. The resulting chunks of metal, rubber and fiber are sorted and sent to recycling companies to come back as raw materials for new products.
B&M Auto Sales and Service is proud to be a part of the recycling chain. We're also proud to serve the greater Milwaukee area (and beyond) with quality used auto parts at affordable prices.

Quality, Used OEM Auto Parts at the Best Prices in Milwaukee
B&M Auto offers low prices on quality used auto parts for the general public and auto repair shops throughout Milwaukee. We even have customers in other parts of the country, thanks to the Internet. Whether you’re trying to keep a beater going for another year or you’re restoring a classic muscle car, B&M Auto is your best bet.
As a Gold Seal Certified member of the Automotive Recyclers Association, we are required to provide accurate descriptions of the parts we sell based on the ARA’s stringent auto parts grading system. We must also provide a written guarantee—specifically, we provide a 90-day warranty on all used parts, a 15-day return policy, and a 30-day exchange policy.
Does B&M Auto Buy Junker Cars?
We get this question a lot. The answer is, no, we don’t buy cars from individual sellers. The cars that end up on our lot mostly get here after an insurance company has determined them to be a total loss. Although they may not be usable anymore, there are hundreds of perfectly functional parts on them. We harvest all the usable parts, then inspect, evaluate and inventory them in our warehouse.
Recycled Coolant from B&M Auto
Although B&M Auto isn’t a full-fledged recycling operation, we do recycle the coolant recovered from vehicles on our lot. We use a coolant recycling machine that filters contaminants from the antifreeze, then adds a neutralizer to remove acid. Finally, coloring is added to make it look like antifreeze.
Understandably, you might be suspicious of recycled coolant. However, the final product meets the standards of the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM). If you have a newer vehicle, however, we'd recommend contacting the auto maker and asking them if using recycled coolant will void any warranty on the vehicle.
How much, you ask? We offer this recycled coolant for sale at a price that’s about half of what new coolant costs.
If We Don’t Have the Part You Need, We’ll Get It
We have a huge inventory of used auto parts, everything from lug nuts to truck caps, but we can’t guarantee we’ll always have what you need in stock. If we don’t have what you need, we’ll tap into the nationwide ADP Hollander network of auto salvage yards and track down the part you need. You can use our online search tool, but because inventory is constantly changing we recommend calling or emailing us with your request.
